Codes and Conventions

Codes and convention=System of sign, which create meaning. Codes are video/audio, conventions group together to make a genre.
i.e. eerie music builds tension and creates suspense which link to a specific genre
For this task, you are going to analyse the codes and conventions of a magazine cover and double page spread
Masthead is unconventionally small and in the top left and bright red. This contrasts with the blue background as they are opposites on the colour wheel. The red matches McCathy's signature which is in the middle (emphasised) of the front cover
Slogan is quite cliche and is above masthead
Cover lines, bylines and feature article relate to the genre. Text size is large.
It is laid out in a Z pattern meaning that it knows its viewers read from left to right and from up to down.

My Media Summer Films During the summer I spent a large portion of it abroad spending a total of six weeks in California and touring Israel. During this time, you would expect me to spend my hours outside experiencing new cultures and escaping the chills of the English weather. For a large part of my time in Israel, that's exactly what I did. Uses and Gratifications

Uses and Gratifications Hello all. Today I will be showing you the target audience for two very different types of music magazines. This is the first one: This is a K-Pop magazine so I would assume that its target audience would be Asian fashionistas. As you can see on the right, I made what I believe an Asian fashionista aged 12-18 would look like on the hugely accurate avatar website avachara. A secondary audience may be American women aged 20-27. This is because they may be fascinated by the culture e.g. the beat of the music, the style of clothing or the cinematography in the videos. This is a Jewish hip hop style magazine. I would assume that its target audience would be the fashionable Jew aged 12-37 and a half The afore mentioned "stylish Jew"
